Hannah Norlin scored 20 points and Hailey Kontny recorded a double-double as Wisconsin-Superior topped Minnesota-Morris 76-63 on the road Saturday to finish the regular season perfect in UMAC play for the second straight season.
Kontny's 16 points and 12 rebounds helped the Yellowjackets (21-4 overall, 16-0 UMAC) take the lead in the third quarter, after trailing 38-37 at the half. UWS opened the fourth quarter on a 12-3 run to take a comfortable advantage.
The second-place Cougars (19-6, 14-2) committed 27 turnovers in the loss, which UWS turned into 30 points. The Yellowjackets are the top seed in the UMAC tournament and will host Bethany Lutheran College or Martin Luther College in Wednesday's semifinals.
* Minnesota Duluth couldn't keep pace with No. 12 Minnesota State-Moorhead in a 75-58 NSIC loss to close out the regular season Saturday at Romano Gym. It was UMD's fifth straight loss. Cassidy Thorson scored 24 points for the first-place Dragons (23-3 overall, 20-2 NSIC), who outscored UMD (13-13, 11-11) in all four quarters. The Bulldogs bench accounted for 31 points, including 11 from Anna Monke, which matched Taylor Meyer for the team lead. UMD will host Minnesota State-Mankato in the first round of the NSIC tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
* St. Scholastica concluded the season with a 76-48 UMAC rout of Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minn. CSS finished sixth in the conference standings, one slot out of a postseason tournament berth. Mel Weisbrick of Hibbing paced the Saints (8-16 overall, 6-10 UMAC) with 16 points, as CSS had a double-digit advantage at the half and led by as many as 33 points. Last-place Crown (1-24, 0-16) committed 27 fouls.
