College volleyball: Yellowjackets edge Northland

Brylee Colligan had 14 kills and 17 digs as Wisconsin-Superior edged Northland College 25-15, 18-25, 25-19, 24-26, 16-14 in a seesaw UMAC volleyball match on Wednesday night in Ashland.

Mara Cameron of Grand Rapids added 10 kills and five blocks, while Emily VerWay paced the offense with 48 set assists while adding 18 digs for the Yellowjackets (17-11 overall, 10-5 UMAC). Teammate Mackenzie Dahlin chipped in with 20 digs.

Down 14-13 in the deciding fifth set, UWS got kills from Anna Ribich, VerWay and Elise Ertl in rallying for the victory.

Bethany Best had 15 kills to lead Northland (7-19, 4-11), while Adrianna Galtieri had a match-high 33 digs.

• Madissen Burns and Christaia Houser of Esko had 10 kills apiece as St. Scholastica rolled to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-14 UMAC victory over North Central at Reif Gymnasium.

Espi Austvold had 35 set assists and McKenzie Orr had 14 digs for the Saints (12-18, 8-7), who kept North Central (2-25, 0-15) winless in conference play.
