College volleyball: UMD moves up to No. 2 in national poll

Fresh off a 3-2 victory over then-No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth climbed one spot to No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll that was released Monday.

Fresh off a 3-2 victory over then-No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul, Minnesota Duluth climbed one spot to No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II poll that was released Monday.

UMD (28-2) knocked the Golden Bears from the top spot -- which Concordia-St. Paul had done to the Bulldogs at the end of September -- with a 25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 22-25, 15-11 win Saturday at Romano Gym. UMD is second behind new No. 1 Tampa. Concordia-St. Paul is third.

Other teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the top 25 include Southwest Minnesota State (No. 7), Wayne State (No. 18) and Northern State (No. 22).

The Bulldogs host Sioux Falls on Wednesday in the first round of the NSIC tournament.
