UMD moves closer to NSIC title
Senior setter Eleena Iisakka of Esko had 41 set assists and 11 digs as second-ranked Minnesota Duluth stayed unbeaten with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-16 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Northern State on Friday night before 436 spectators at Romano Gym.
Kate Lange (16 kills) and April Hansen (14) combined on 30 kills, while freshman libero Julie Rainey chipped in with a match-high 18 digs for UMD (24-0 overall, 15-0 NSIC).
Morgan Richardson had 25 set assists to lead Northern (11-11, 6-9).
With No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul losing its second straight home NSIC match on Friday to No. 13 Wayne State, UMD holds a two-match lead in the conference standings with five matches to play.

UMD, which handed the four-time defending national champion Golden Bears their first loss of the season, rematch Concordia at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Romano.
The Bulldogs host Mary at 4 p.m. today.
UMD could take over the No. 1 spot in the country with top-ranked Tampa University losing in five sets on Friday night to unranked Eckerd.
