After suffering back-to-back losses Friday in Marquette, Mich., top-ranked Minnesota Duluth closed out it's weekend in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a pair of sweeps Saturday against Lake Superior State and Northwood at the 2018 Wildcat Open.
The Bulldogs (6-2) topped the Lakers 25-11, 25-16, 25-18 in the morning thanks to 11 kills by Makenzie Morgen and 10 kills from Hanna Meyer. Emily Torve had 35 assists and Keena Seiffert finished with 14 digs.
Morgen led the Bulldogs in kills again, this time with 12, in the 25-19, 25-12, 25-22 victory over the Timberwolves. Torve also led in assists with 29 and Seiffert had a team-high 15 digs.
The Bulldogs open NSIC play next week, hosting Bemidji State at Amsoil Arena with Romano Gymnasium still undergoing renovations.
• St. Scholastica rebounded from a 25-11, 25-23, 26-17 loss to Cal Lutheran with a five-set win over Union 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-9, on Saturday morning at the Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont, Calif.

Madissen Burns and Tatum Swanson had a team-high 15 kills while Brooke Schermann finished with 14 kills to lead the Saints to their first win of the season. Schermann also contributed 13 digs, same with Arianna Sam. Taylor Thompson led CSS (1-3) with 14 digs against Union.
Schermann had a team-high nine digs against Cal Lutheran.
• Wisconsin-Superior picked up its first win of the season via a sweep of LeTourneau 25-21, 25-23, 25-18, on Saturday morning before dropping a five-set match to Texas Lutheran 20-25, 20-25, 30-28, 25-23, 15-11, at the University of Texas-Dallas Tournament.
Anna Ribich had 13 kills, Emily VerWay totaled 32 assists and Karlie Leif posted 15 digs to lead the Yellowjackets (1-3) against LeTourneau. Brylee Colligan and Cami Sletta had 14 kills for UWS against Texas Lutheran, with Ashlee Bayer adding 13 kills.
