College track and field: UMD dominates Twin Ports Invite

Minnesota Duluth captured titles in 14 of 16 men's events at Saturday's Twin Ports Invite on the Wisconsin-Superior campus.

Headlining the winners was the 6,400-meter relay team which finished in a school-record and Lydia Thering Fieldhouse record of 17 minutes, 48.88 seconds.

Other UMD winners included the sprint medley, distance medley, 800 and 3,200 relays, Logan Rubeck in the 60 hurdles (8.64 seconds) and 200 hurdles (25.83), Henry Jessen in the mile (4:34.92), Nate Hoglund in the 60 meters (7.17), Sam Wiechman in the 200 (23.74), Ian O'Connor in the high jump (6 feet, 2.75 inches), Dan Clark in the pole vault (13-5.25), Jake Carlson in the triple jump (40-6.25) and Clint Treichel in the weight throw (52-5.5).

• The UMD women claimed nine individual titles. The winners included Amber Seidenkranz in the mile (5:24.74), Kendra Monpas in the 200 (27.00), Sarah Harrison in the 600 (1:43.60), Isabelle Brezinka in the 800 (2:27.09), Nicole Schneider in the 200 hurdles (29.00), Rachelle LeBlanc in the pole vault (10-11.75), Lindsay Maruska in the triple jump (34-0), Alexandra Headley in the shot put (41-04.50) and Bariture Igboh in the weight throw (47-07).

Also on Saturday, junior Danielle Kohlwey, competing primarily against Division I athletes, posted a time of 8.47 in the 60-meter hurdles at South Dakota State University's Jim Emmerich Invitational. That bettered her previous school mark of 8.53 and is the second-best clocking in the Division II ranks at the moment.
