The St. Scholastica men and women won semifinal matches Friday in the 2012 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference playoffs at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
The men's team defeated Minnesota-Morris 9-0 including victories for senior Jacob Engelstad at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, with Kevin Hilpert. Engelstad now holds the program record for doubles victories at 54. The Saints (17-7) face Northwestern College or Martin Luther College in today's 10 a.m. title match.
The women's team beat Martin Luther College 8-1. Sophomore Hilary Bungarden of Hibbing won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, with Rachael Zwiener. The Saints (17-6) play Northwestern College or Minnesota-Morris in today's 10 a.m. final.
