Former Virginia standout Alexis Gunderson helped lead the St. Scholastica women's tennis team to a 9-0 sweep of Minnesota Duluth in their season-opening match on Friday at Arrowhead Tennis Center in Duluth.

Gunderson beat Kara Saemann 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles and teamed with Jessica Solberg to beat Saemann and Drew DeCorsey 8-1 in No. 1 doubles.

Solberg, Madeleine Scanlan, Alek Ochrymowicz, Katie Kingston and Pamela Hartley added singles victories as the Saints swept UMD for the second straight season.

  • Both the St. Scholastica men and women earned 7-2 victories over Hamline on Saturday in Minneapolis.
