Alayna Tulip was 4-for-4 and Bobbijean Miller hit a two-run double to key a four-run fifth inning to lead Wisconsin-Superior to an 8-7 victory over Crown College in the first game of a UMAC doubleheader Thursday at St. Bonifacius, Minn.
Crown won 2-1 in the second game.
Ciarra Stavang of Duluth and Maggie Cragg each had two hits and Gabby Gidley drove in two runs for UWS (14-16 overall, 8-4 UMAC), which led 8-4 in the fifth before hanging on to the win.
The Yellowjackets totaled only five hits in the nightcap, spoiling a solid performance by UWS starting pitcher Damara Theis (two runs and eight hits allowed).
