St. Scholastica eliminated in NCAA Division III

Two losses on the first day of play Friday, in the NCAA Division III Central Regional, eliminated St. Scholastica in Pella, Iowa.

Top seed Luther College defeated the Saints 8-1 and No. 2 seed Central College won 10-2.

In the first game, winning pitcher Becca Givran limited the Saints to three hits and struck out 10 in seven innings. Luther led 3-1 after three innings and scored five in the sixth.

In the second game, Theresa Tauer had a double and drove in a run for St. Scholastica (32-12). Central College was led by Abbey Strajack with four hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Games today include Luther against St. Thomas, and Wisconsin-River Falls meeting Coe College.
