St. Scholastica has yet to give up a run in the UMAC tournament as the top-seeded Saints advanced to the championship game with a 3-0 victory over second-seeded Crown on Friday at Kenwood Field.
St. Scholastica (23-15) will play third-seeded Northwestern (19-19) at noon Saturday for the championship of the double-elimination tournament, with a second game to follow should the Eagles win. The tournament champion receives the UMAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III tournament.
Senior Chrisi Mizera pitched the Saints to their 11th shutout of the season, scattering three hits, with five strikeouts and no walks. Duluth East product Marjaana Dailey provided the offense with two solo home runs. Dailey finished 3-for-3, while leadoff hitter Alexa Bremer added a pair of hits and a walk.
Janelle Williams had two hits to lead Crown (15-24), which was knocked out of the tournament later Friday in a 2-1 loss to Northwestern after the Eagles scored two runs in the top of the seventh.
Mizera has now logged 11 scoreless tournament innings for St. Scholastica after earning the win in Thursday's 21-0 rout over Bethany Lutheran. She has faced just four batters over the minimum.
