College softball: Saints drop 3 of 4 in dome

Lily Kagan had three RBIs, two on a second-inning home run, as St. Scholastica salvaged the final game of a four-game road trip to the West St. Paul Dome with a 6-5 victory over Bethel University on Monday.

Olivia Howe was 3-for-4 and Maggie Schley earned the win for the Saints (3-5).

Bethel, using a seven-run fourth inning, won the opener 14-6 in six innings. Karissa Ratcliffe hit a three-run home run in the second as the Saints took a 6-3 lead, Schley drove in two runs and Nicole Anders was 3-for-4 at the plate.

On Sunday night, Hamline swept CSS, winning 2-1 and 7-3.

Ratcliff hit her first collegiate home run to tie the opener in the top of the fifth. But the Pipers answered with a run in the bottom of the frame and the Saints stranded three total runners between the sixth and seventh innings to drop game one.

The Pipers broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the fifth to complete the sweep.
