Madison Harris was a combined 4-for-5 with three doubles and two RBIs as St. Scholastica swept Bethany Lutheran 2-1 and 8-1 in a UMAC doubleheader on Saturday in the first games of the season at Kenwood Field.
Josie Fourre's single scored Harris in the bottom of the seventh to win the opener. Harris doubled to open up the inning and moved to third on Nicole Anders sacrifice, setting up Fourre's heroics. Duluth East graduate Vanessa Kohl (6-5) picked up the win, tossing a three-hitter with six strikeouts.
Maggie Schley (6-4) tossed a four-hitter with four strikeouts in the rematch to lead the Saints (18-11 overall, 12-2 UMAC), while Isabella Lattery scored the lone run for the Vikings (14-16, 9-5). Schley and Alexa Bremer had three hits apiece to lead the St. Scholastica offense, with Schley tying a program record with three doubles in Game 2, while Bremer extended her hitting streak to 15 games.
St. Scholastica can clinch the outright UMAC regular-season title with a split today against Crown; first game is 1 p.m. at Kenwood Field.
• Macy Hanson and Damara Theis earned pitching wins as Wisconsin-Superior earned a 4-1 and 12-2 UMAC sweep of Minnesota-Morris at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Hanson (10-7) tossed a five-hitter in the opener, allowing one run while striking out eight, while Bailey Kinnunen had a solo home run and Sarah Fjeran had two hits to lead the offense.
Theis (5-8) allowed two runs on seven hits in the five-inning rematch, with no strikeouts or walks. Saige Patrick had three hits, including a home run, three runs and three RBIs and Alayna Tulip had three hits, two runs and three RBIs to lead the Yellowjackets (16-16 overall, 10-4 UMAC).
Emily Nordquist and Lacey Sullivan had two hits apiece to lead the Cougars (10-26, 4-10).
• Minnesota Duluth (37-9 overall, 19-4 NSIC) powered its way to its fifth straight win, 12-4 over Wayne State at Malosky Stadium, but the second game of their NSIC doubleheader wasn't completed when this edition went to press.
