The Wisconsin-Superior men's and women's soccer teams swept a pair of UMAC games from Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday in Mankato, Minn., with the men winning 5-0 and the women prevailing in overtime 2-1.
Sarah Fjeran gave the UWS women (2-5-1, 2-2 UMAC) a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute against the Vikings. She picked up the game-winner, as well, in the 94th minute.
James Bruce registered a hat trick for the UWS men (7-2-1, 3-0-1), scoring in the 24th, 27th and 46th minutes. Elliot Chapman and Leonardo Paredes also scored second-half goals for the Yellowjackets, while goalkeepers Ulrik Lager and Dalton Von Kaenel combined for the shutout.
• The St. Scholastica men suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Carleton in nonconference play Wednesday in Northfield, Minn. Alex Dodd gave the Saints (4-3-1) a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute, but Tarek Bos-Shadi rallied Carleton with goals in the 70th and 98th minutes.
