College soccer: UWS, CSS teams sweep

UWS (12-2-1 overall, 7-0-1 UMAC) has won eight straight games.

Paredes netted the lone first-half goal and Blake Perry scored midway through the second half to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 lead. Paredes tacked on another goal in the 79th minute before Joe Graumann scored the only goal for the Knights (4-8-2, 3-3-2).

• A pair of goals from Armin Bobaric helped St. Scholastica down visiting Minnesota-Morris 3-0 in UMAC men's play Saturday.

Starting goalkeeper Corey Bulheller made four saves before giving way to Michael Petoletti, who stopped one shot to complete the shutout as the Saints (6-6-1, 5-2-1) snapped a three-game skid. Malcolm Lumsden scored the Saints' third goal.

• In UMAC women's action, Morgan Friday's natural hat trick turned a 1-0 lead into a rout, and St. Scholastica never relented in a 6-0 drubbing of Minnesota-Morris at Saints Field.

Friday, a Duluth native, pushed her team-leading goal tally to 10 and Roni Rudolph made three saves to record her eighth shutout of the season. Becca Rancour, Rachel Dixon and Lorena Lane also scored for the Saints (7-4-2, 7-0-1), who moved closer to clinching the conference title.

• Liza Shelquist snapped a scoreless deadlock by scoring in the 102nd minute, giving the Wisconsin-Superior women a 1-0 win over Martin Luther at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Madison Gutekunst made four saves for the Yellowjackets (4-9-1, 4-4).
