UMD secures spot in NSIC playoffs
Minnesota Duluth defeated Bemidji State 4-1 Friday afternoon in Bemidji, Minn., to secure a spot in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's playoffs. UMD has won three straight games and is 7-1 the last eight.
The Bulldogs (8-5-1 overall, 8-3 NSIC) are third in the league behind Winona State and Minnesota State-Mankato. UMD freshman midfielder Jennifer Smith broke a 1-1 tie at the 57-minute mark and goals followed by defender Maureen Stormont and Reegan Lloyd.
Winning goalie Hanna Iaizzo had 14 saves. Bemidji State is 6-7-2 and 5-4-2.
