College soccer: St. Scholastica’s Friday, UWS’ Schussman, Perry and Babaya earn All-Region honors
Friday, a senior midfielder from Duluth, earned All-Region Second Team honors for the third time in her career.
St. Scholastica’s Morgan Friday and Wisconsin-Superior’s Annah Schussman, Blake Perry and Protus Babaya earned All-Region IX honors, the United Soccer Coaches announced Monday, Nov. 29, 2021.
Friday, a senior midfielder from Duluth, earned All-Region Second Team honors for the third time in her career to join Kelsey Kehtel as the only CSS women’s soccer players to be recognized as All-Region at least three times by the United Soccer Coaches. The four-time all-conference selection led the Saints with eight goals this season, fourth in the MIAC.
Friday finished her career with 81 goals and 18 assists for 180 points in 70 games, ranking second in program history to Kehtel in both goals and points. Friday’s 81 goals and 180 points are second among active NCAA Division III players.
Schussman was the lone UMAC player recognized with Third Team honors. The three-time All-UMAC First Team selection helped lead the Yellowjackets to their first-ever conference regular season and tournament titles and the NCAA Division III tournament. She led the UMAC in assists (12) and was second in points (42) and third in goals (15).
Perry and Babaya helped lead UWS to its fourth-straight regular-season title and fifth postseason championship.
Perry, a senior forward from Anoka, Minnesota, made the Second Team. The three-time UMAC First Team selection led the conference with 19 goals, 20 assists and 58 points, ranking in the top 10 in NCAA Division III in all three categories.
Babaya, a senior midfielder from Elk River, Minnesota, made the Third Team. The two-time UMAC First Team selection was third in the UMAC in scoring with 32 points and 14 goals.
