Saints post pair of shutouts

The St. Scholastica men and women blanked Crown in a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games Saturday in St. Bonifacius, Minn.

Goalkeeper Sam Reed made five saves to record his school-record 48th career victory in the Saints men's 3-0 win. Joe Watt and Ace Amin scored first-half goals and Brandon Stemwedel of Grand Rapids added a second-half goal for the Saints (8-1-1, 5-0-1), while Reed kept Crown (4-4, 3-2) off the scoreboard.

Kaylee Gombold scored 6:30 into overtime to give the St. Scholastica women a 1-0 win. The Saints (7-4, 6-0) extended their scoreless streak to 546 minutes as they had nine shots on goal to none for Crown (0-9, 0-5).
