When the UMAC postseason tournament starts next week, St. Scholastica is guaranteed at least a No. 2 seed thanks to a 5-0 win over North Central on Wednesday at Saints Field.
Goalkeeper Sandy Davidson-Hunt made three saves for the shutout, with his Saints (12-6 overall, 10-1-0 UMAC) leading North Central (5-7-3, 2-6-3) just 1-0 at halftime via a goal by Luke Buckton in the 18th minute.
Noah Hooey of Hermantown, Juan Ochoa, Sam Brickley of Duluth and Avnish Miyangar all scored in the second half. The goals by Brickley and Miyangar were their first of the season.
• Jon Bucklew finished with a hat trick in Wisconsin-Superior's 7-0 rout of Northland in Superior. Eric Watson, Fernando Bicalho, Nick Piazza and Leonardo Paredes also scored for the Yellowjackets (12-6-1, 9-1-1), who led Northland (5-7-3, 2-6-3) at halftime 5-0.
