Sophomore Dalton VonKaenel needed just two saves to earn his third shutout of the season as Wisconsin-Superior downed visiting Northwestern 3-0 on Tuesday in UMAC soccer as the Yellowjackets clinched a spot in the UMAC postseason.
Superior's Jon Bucklew opened the scoring at 36:39 for UWS (10-6-1 overall, 7-1-1 UMAC) with his seventh goal of the season on an assist from Blake Doyea. Fernando Bicalho made it 2-0 on a free kick at 62:38, while freshman Blake Doyea completed the scoring at 74:43 on an assist from Bicalho.
Turner Main had seven saves to lead the Eagles (7-4-2, 6-2-1).
• Anna Welch scored a pair of goals to lead UMAC-leading Northwestern (8-5-1, 8-0-1) to a 4-1 women's victory over Wisconsin-Superior.
Proctor grad Britt Zieroth scored the lone goal for the Yellowjackets (3-11-1, 2-6-1) on an assist from Liza Shelquist to knot it 1-1 at 21:40 before Welch and company took control.
