College men’s hockey: Yellowjackets blank Lumberjacks in exhibition opener in Ashland

After delayed start to season, Svensson and company look sharp en route to shutout.

Sophomore forward Dylan Johnson of Cloquet scored twice, and goalie Oscar Svensson pitched the shutout as Wisconsin-Superior blanked Northland 3-0 Wednesday in their exhibition opener in Ashland.

For Svensson, a senior from Sodertalje, Sweden, it was his fourth career collegiate shutout.

The same teams rematch in another exhibition match, this time at Wessman Arena in Superior, at 7:05 p.m. Friday before squaring off at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in their WIAC opener in Ashland.
