Cloquet native Corey Millen was named director of hockey by Air Force Academy today, joining the staff of Coleraine native Frank Serratore in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Millen coached the Minnesota Wilderness for four seasons, leading the Cloquet-based junior hockey team to the North American Hockey League's Robertson Cup in 2015. Millen spent last season as an undergraduate assistant coach at the University of Minnesota while he completed his degree in recreation, park and leisure studies.

As a player, Millen recorded 241 points and played in three Frozen Fours in four seasons with the Golden Gophers before embarking on a 14-year NHL career. He also played for Team USA in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
