Former St. Scholastica men’s hockey captain Dave Williams is returning to the program as assistant coach, the university announced Monday.
Williams played for the Saints from 2011-15 where he was named to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) All-Rookie Team in 2012. He was named the team's Best Defensive Player in 2012-13 and named captain for the 2014-15 season.
The native of Okotoks, Alberta, finished third on the team with 23 points his junior season and tied for the team lead with 18 assists his senior season. For his CSS career, Williams finished with 29 goals and 38 assists in 101 career games.
After graduating with a degree in finance from St. Scholastica in 2015, Williams played professionally for three years in the Southern Professional Hockey League with the Huntsville Havoc and the Evansville Thunderbolts.
The Saints are coached by Kevin Moore, who was hired in July.
