ORONO, Maine - A power outage on the University of Maine campus delayed Friday’s game between the Black Bears and Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team approximately an hour and a half. Friday’s nonconference series opener was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CDT. Puck drop is now scheduled for 7:27 p.m. CDT.
Power went out at Maine's Alfond Arena around 4 p.m. CDT and was restored around 6:38 p.m. The power outage was city-wide. During the outage, Alfond Arena ran on backup generators to keep some lights on and maintain the ice, allowing teams to come out for warmups 10 minutes after power was restored.
The Bulldogs are without senior forward Avery Peterson of Grand Rapids this weekend. He's out due to an injury. Sophomore goaltender Hunter Shepard of Cohasset will get the start in the Bulldogs net.
