Wisconsin-Superior fell behind early and stayed there despite a couple surges, resulting in a 78-68 nonconference men's basketball loss to Lawrence on Saturday, Dec. 18 in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Brandon Danowski's 3-pointer 6:21 into the game proved to give the Vikings the lead for good, as it was followed by a 18-7 run. UWS closed within two but trailed 36-29 at halftime and by as many as 16 early in the second half. The Yellowjackets got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
Eli Vogel, an Appleton native, scored a game-high 22 points for UWS and added seven rebounds, matching season highs. Xavier Patterson (Superior) had a career day, with 17 points, eight boards and six assists.
Kyle Lillwitz made four treys for a team-high 20 points off the bench for Lawrence (5-6).
UWS (3-7) will break for Christmas before a trip to the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, where they'll meet St. Mary's (Minn.) on Dec. 28 at 5 p.m.
