New Minnesota Duluth men's basketball head coach Justin Wieck has retained Matt Hockett as an assistant coach with the program.
"I am thrilled to retain Matt on our staff," Wieck, who was appointed UMD's 17th head coach on May 1, said in a release. "In the short time I've gotten to know Matt, his strong passion for UMD basketball to be successful has been evident. Matt's familiarity with our players, campus, department and the NSIC will be a great benefit to our program."
Hockett, a UMD graduate, has spent the past three seasons on the Bulldogs bench after spending the previous six seasons as head coach at Stoughton (Wis.) High School.
Hockett was one of four finalists named for the position.
