College men's basketball: St. Scholastica to open season Tuesday

Saints to play Northland College in first game in nearly 11 months

St. Scholastica is set to end a nearly 11-month sabbatical when it travels to Ashland to play Northland College at 7 p.m. Tuesday,

The Saints last took the court Feb. 29, 2020, against Bethany Lutheran College in the UMAC championship game.

The conference has postponed all sporting events since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

St. Scholastica, which upset top-seeded Northwestern in the UMAC semifinals, brings back the junior duo of Nick Carlson and Jack Silgen, each of whom averaged 12 points per game last year. Additionally, senior Jarod Wilken is back after putting up 12.4 points a game in 2019-20 as the Saints hope to challenge for their first conference title since 2015-16.
