Third-seeded St. Scholastica went on the road to upset second-seeded Bethany Lutheran 95-88 on Thursday in Mankato, Minn., and reach Saturday's UMAC championship game.
The Saints will square off with top-seeded Northwestern at 7 p.m. in St. Paul, with the winner earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III tournament.
St. Scholastica trailed by five at halftime, but took the lead via a 3-pointer from Sam Thompson with 8:35 left in regulation. St. Scholastica led by as many as 14 points with 2:52 and 1:41 to play.
Brandon Newman led the Saints with 25 points and nine rebounds. He hit 11 of 14 free throws as the Saints shot 76.7 percent overall (23 of 30).
Jarod Wilken added 16 points for the Saints (16-10), who got a trio of 3s from Collin Anderson (13 points) and Thompson (10).

Cire Mayfield finished with 25 points to lead Bethany Lutheran (18-8).
Northwestern advanced to the UMAC championship game with a 106-85 win over Crown on Thursday.
