Noah Alm scored 18 points and Northwestern broke a tie atop the UMAC standings with a 70-64 win over Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday at Mertz Mortorelli Gym in Superior.
With the win, Northwestern (14-1 UMAC, 18-6 overall) moved a game up on the Yellowjackets (13-2, 16-8) with one game remaining in the regular season.
UWS could claim a share of the title by defeating Bethany Lutheran (12-2, 17-6) on Saturday, but would also need St. Scholastica (10-5, 13-11) to upset Northwestern on Saturday.
On Wednesday, UWS took a 15-4 lead five minutes into the game and held a seven-point edge at halftime. The Eagles grabbed a lead early in the second half and while the 'Jackets later tied the game at 59, they could regain a lead.
UWS' Mason Ackley and Eli Vogel both scored 15 points and Vid Milenkovic finished with 13 points.
