Bjugstad to remain at Minnesota

Minnesota All-American junior center Nick Bjugstad of Blaine, Minn., said Thursday he will remain in school for 2012-13 after weighing NHL opportunities.

Bjugstad, 19, a first-round selection by Florida in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, was a 2012 All-Western Collegiate Hockey Association selection and led Minnesota in scoring with 42 points in 40 games as a sophomore. He had 25 goals.

"This is the right spot for me," Bjugstad said in a statement. "I am going to be close to finishing my education and hopefully can accomplish the goal that I have had ever since I was little, which is winning a national championship. We are going to have a good team this year and hopefully get another chance at the national championship and make a run there. I feel I can develop here and become more of a leader on the team as well."

Minnesota (28-14-1) won the 2012 WCHA regular-season title and advanced to the NCAA semifinals.
