College golf: Saints sweep UMAC meet

Reigning UMAC men's champion St. Scholastica captured the team title at the UMAC Preview on Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, Minn. The Saints tallied a score of plus-15 303 to finish three strokes ahead of the University of Northwestern.

The Saints tallied a score of plus-15 303 to finish three strokes ahead of the University of Northwestern. Nick Mahowald of Northwestern captured medalist honors with a 1-under-par 71 to finish one stroke ahead of St. Scholastica's Liam Butcher and Austin Coyne of Crown College.

Three Saints finished in the top five, including Anthony Ahrens (74) and Spencer Viita (75).

Wisconsin-Superior placed third with a score of 318.

The Saints, led by co-medalist Kylie Slavin, also won the women's meet, beating the rest of the field by 40 strokes.

Slavin, Martin Luther College's Alison Lindeman and Northwestern's Elise Tangquist each shot 91 to share the individual title.
