Minnesota Duluth announced Wednesday junior wide receiver Jason Balts and seniors Zach Bassuener (outside linebacker), Nolak Folkert (offensive guard), Nate Ricci (wide receiver/return specialist) and Ty Sullivan (punter) will captain the 2017 Bulldogs.

All captains were starters last season except for Sullivan, who missed each of the previous three seasons after sustaining a lower body injury in the final game of his high school career. Bassuener, Folkert and Ricci have all been three-year starters for UMD, and all three players received All-NSIC First-Team honors last season.

Preseason camp begins Aug. 9, with the season-opener set for Aug. 31 at Malosky Stadium against reigning NSIC champion Sioux Falls.
