St. Scholastica plays Northwestern in a key Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup at 1 p.m. today at Reynolds Field in St. Paul in the Eagles' homecoming game.
Both teams are coming off UMAC wins over MacMurray and Minnesota-Morris by similarly impressive margins.
Senior quarterback Alex Thiry had a school-record five touchdown passes in leading the Saints (4-0 overall, 3-0 UMAC) to a 49-6 victory last week over MacMurray, while Jake Jensen topped 100 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive game as the Saints won their eighth straight going back to last season. Thiry, of Cambridge, Minn., leads NCAA Division III with a 217.66 pass efficiency rating.
Northwestern (3-2, 3-1) is balanced offensively, with quarterback Josh Balzer throwing for more than 900 yards, with nine TDs to only one interception, while four Eagles' running backs have averaged at least 25 yards rushing per game.
