College football: Saints roll past Eagles

Senior quarterback Alex Thiry threw for four touchdown passes as St. Scholastica scored 28 points in the second half to beat Northwestern 35-7 on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game, spoiling the Eagles' homecoming before 2,821 people at Reynolds Field in St. Paul.

Thiry, the NCAA Division III leader in passing efficiency, completed 12 of 16 passes for 150 yards as the Saints won their ninth straight. Thiry has yet to throw an interception this season. His top target was senior Keegan O'Neill of Superior, who caught five passes for 116 yards and two scores.

Sophomore running back Jake Jensen continued his tough running,

carrying the ball 29 times for 148 yards and a touchdown for the Saints (5-0 overall, 4-0 UMAC).

The Saints' defense, meanwhile, along with punter Justin Bosman, kept the Eagles pinned in their own end in the first half. Sean Graskey, Zack Dubanoski and Jordan Rasmussen had 10 tackles each to lead St. Scholastica, while Mike LaValley and Jake Turkowski had interceptions.

Josh Young ran 18 times for 51 yards and touchdown to lead the Northwestern

(3-3, 3-2), which managed only 186 yards of total offense compared to 296 for the Saints.
