St. Scholastica will look to bounce back from a tough loss last week when the Saints play Iowa Wesleyan in a UMAC football game at noon Saturday in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
St. Scholastica (4-3 overall, 4-1 UMAC) fell 35-0 to Thomas More last week as the Saints were shut out for the first time at home in program history. Thomas More held a 361-to-0 advantage in rushing yards, including 20 carries for 200 yards by Hjavier Pitts, and also got three touchdown passes from quarterback Justin Post.
St. Scholastica was held to a season-low 154 yards. Junior quarterback Zach Edwards topped 2,000 passing yards for the second time in his career, and Moose Lake-Willow River product Bryceton Butkiewicz had 18 carries for 42 yards. He could be looked to more today as the Saints ran for more than 200 yards last season against Iowa Wesleyan.
Iowa Wesleyan (1-6, 1-4) has played the top UMAC teams tough, falling 20-13 to MacMurray last week and 28-21 to Martin Luther the week before, but the Tigers' only victory this season was a 44-7 home rout over Crown College on Sept. 29. Sophomore Demarcus Collins is a dual threat at quarterback, having thrown for 1,069 yards and five touchdowns while adding 289 rushing yards and five more scores.
