College baseball: UMD splits conference pair

Grant Farley and Brett Milazzo each had two of the Bulldogs' nine hits, while a quartet of UMD pitchers withstood an 11-hit attack to pick up the win. Travis Berg recorded the victory in relief.

The Wildcats (12-16) were much more proficient in a 5-1 triumph in the second game. Tanner Simons was 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the nine-hit offensive attack.

Hunter Wienhoff held the Bulldogs (13-13) to five hits and three walks in the complete-game win. Reee Dietrich took the loss.

• Wisconsin-Superior struggled in a nonconference doubleheader against Gustavus Adolphus, losing 9-2 and 15-1 at St. Peter, Minn.

Brock Peterson had three hits and three RBIs and Nolan Lepel drove in two runs on three hits to pace the Gusties in the opener. Winning pitcher Sam Carlson scattered eight hits in the complete game.

The nightcap was worse as the Yellowjackets (2-14) allowed four runs in the third inning and seven more in the seventh and committed four errors while totaling only five hits off two Gustavus pitchers.
