St. Scholastica swept Bethany Lutheran College 3-1 and 6-2 on Sunday to capture the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference title and stretch its regular-season conference win streak to 46. The Saints have won 17 straight UMAC regular-season titles.
Jake Casareto singled in Kyle Flagstad with the winning run in the third inning in the opener to back Mickie Keuning's career-high 11-strikeout performance over 7 2/3 innings. Thomas Rogers recorded the final four outs to earn his seventh save.
Flagstad repeated his first-game performance with two hits in the nightcap, while Casareto extended his hitting streak to 19 games as the Saints (24-9, 14-0) finished unbeaten in the conference yet again. They will host the UMAC postseason tournament at Wade Stadium, beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday against an opponent-to-be-determined.
Bethany Lutheran fell to 12-12 overall and 8-2 in the league.
