College baseball: Augustana sweeps UMD in doubleheader

Bulldogs fall to 5-14 after allowing 23 runs in two games.

Minnesota Duluth allowed 23 runs and 31 hits in dropping a doubleheader to NSIC power Augustana on Tuesday at Wade Stadium.

The Bulldogs lost 10-2 and 13-4 to drop to 5-14 overall this season and 3-11 in conference play.

Carter Howell had three hits and three RBIs in the opener for Augustana (15-4, 11-4), while Christian Kuzemka hit a home run among his three hits.

The Vikings scored six runs in the fifth inning of the nightcap to secure the sweep. Kuzemka had three hits of his team’s 18 hits, scored four times and drove in three runs.

Brandt Kolpack, Tyler Peterson and Tosten Mann each had two hits for the Bulldogs.
