  • An Army Corps of Engineers report released last week states that about 13 miles of Lake Superior shoreline in Wisconsin is suffering critical erosion. The report sets the cost of protecting the shore from erosion at about $7.8 million.

  • Superior Mayor Herb Bergson yesterday endorsed Duluth mayoral candidate Gary Doty, saying he's impressed with Doty's ideas for creating closer links between the two cities. Bergson said Doty had contacted him to discuss ideas allowing the cities to work together.
  • Duluth has returned to the list of urban areas that violate health standards for carbon monoxide pollution, according to a report issued yesterday by the Environmental Protection Agency.
