Jason Crisp of Carlton crossed the finish line in 53 minutes, 3 seconds to win the Buzz Ryan Sprint Triathlon on Sunday morning at Island Lake north of Duluth.
Crisp swam 500 yards in less than 10 minutes, then hopped on his bicycle for a 12-mile ride that took 28 minutes before completing a 2.5-mile run 2:18 in front of runner-up Lee Brown of Maple.
Elaine Nelson of Duluth won the women’s race in 58:03, good for eighth overall. Bettina Keppers of Duluth was second, nearly 4 minutes back.
Island Lake will be the site for the Brewhouse Triathlon on Aug. 1.
