Golf: A memorial scramble for Bill Downs Jr. will be held Aug. 8 at Nemadji Golf Course to benefit the Humane Society of Douglas County. Registration is 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon. The Grand Slam Amateur is Aug. 17-19 at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids and Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Coleraine. Entry fee: $180 per person or $150 for season-ticket holders.
