Basketball: The Northern Lights AAU Girls Basketball Club will host a camp July 31-Aug. 3 at Wisconsin-Superior. Girls entering grades 5-8 will participate from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and girls entering grades 9-12 will take part from noon-3 p.m. Cost is $75. Golf: A memorial scramble for Bill Downs Jr. will be held Aug. 8 at Nemadji Golf Course to benefit the Humane Society of Douglas County. Registration is 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon. Cost: $200 for five-person team to include registration packet, dinner, proximity and door prizes, team awards and picture. Information: Bill Downs III at (218) 348-5447.   • The 32nd annual Star of the North Lions Club youth golf tournament, for those 18 and under, is Aug. 1-2 at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids. Entry fees: $30 for 18 holes; $20 for nine holes; and $10 for ages 10 and under. Fees may be sent to Bob Cahill at Pokegama Golf Course, 3910 Golf Course Road, Grand Rapids, MN 55744.   • The Grand Slam Amateur is Aug. 17-19 at Pokegama Golf Course in Grand Rapids and Eagle Ridge Golf Course in Coleraine. Entry fee: $180 per person or $150 for season-ticket holders. Prep Sports: Superior High School will hold a falls sports meeting for athletes and their parents July 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the SHS PAC.
