Boxing: Duluth's Laase wins by TKO

Duluth welterweight R.J. "T-Rex" Laase dispatched of Tyler Ziolkowski with a second round technical knockout in the main event of the Back 2 School Brawl professional boxing card on Saturday at Wessman Arena in Superior.

Duluth welterweight R.J. "T-Rex" Laase dispatched of Tyler Ziolkowski with a second round technical knockout in the main event of the Back 2 School Brawl professional boxing card on Saturday at Wessman Arena in Superior.

Laase, 24, improved to 9-1 with six knockouts after beating Ziolkowski (14-17), a Missouri boxer with fights to his credit that include up-and-coming light middleweight championship contender Omar Chavez. Laase's next bout will be on Oct. 12 in Hinckley, Minn., against a fighter to be determined.

Duluth gym owner Joe Lorenzi (1-5-1), fighting for the first time in more than five years, earned his first pro victory with a second round technical knockout of Tom Greylak.

Rob Brant, Rondale Hubbert and Nick Compton were Saturday's other winners.
