Andrew Ayers and Cory Kay had three hits apiece as Thunder Bay (15-16) totaled 15 hits.

James Ramsay and Wade Wass collected two hits apiece for Duluth (17-15), which remains 2½ games behind Willmar (19-12) in the North Division second-half standings after the Stingers fell 10-5 to Mankato on Wednesday.

Duluth and Thunder Bay play the second game of their three-game series at 6:05 p.m. today at Port Arthur Stadium.
