Jerrick Suiter hit a grand slam to lead the Thunder Bay Border Cats to a 13-3 victory over the Duluth Huskies in Northwoods League baseball on Wednesday night before 1,016 spectators at Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Andrew Ayers and Cory Kay had three hits apiece as Thunder Bay (15-16) totaled 15 hits.
James Ramsay and Wade Wass collected two hits apiece for Duluth (17-15), which remains 2½ games behind Willmar (19-12) in the North Division second-half standings after the Stingers fell 10-5 to Mankato on Wednesday.
Duluth and Thunder Bay play the second game of their three-game series at 6:05 p.m. today at Port Arthur Stadium.
