Biathlon: CSS skier makes US team

St. Scholastica senior Kelsey Dickinson has earned a spot on the U.S. biathlon team for the IBU World Cup event after this weekend's qualifying events in Vermont.

Dickinson, who has advanced to the NCAA Skiing Championships each of the last two seasons, will make her World Cup debut in November. There was a four-race series to qualify for the U.S. team. Two events took place in August and two more this past weekend at the Jericho, Vt., complex.

In addition, former St. Scholastica skier Paul Schommer was battling for the final World Cup spot on the U.S. men's team. After the first two races in August, he and another competitor each had one win. This past weekend, Schommer was second and fourth in two races, and with no other non-prequalified athletes invited to the Canmore Camp, Schommer is nearly a lock to make the World Cup team.
