Beetles top Huskies

Austin Siwiec pitched seven strong innings to lead the Alexandria Beetles to a 5-2 victory over the Duluth Huskies in Northwoods League baseball on Monday before 768 at Knute Nelson Park in Alexandria, Minn.

Siwiec improved to 4-0 on the season as he scattered six hits while walking two and striking out six. Designated hitter Tim Roberson provided much of the offense for the Beetles (17-14), going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Jared Womack and Zac Elgie had two hits each for the Huskies (13-17).

The teams rematch at 1 p.m. today in Alexandria.

* Womack hit two home runs and Andy Burns had a grand slam as the Huskies powered past the St. Cloud River Bats 12-3 on Sunday before 1,515 in St. Cloud, Minn.
