Nick Brown pitched a three-hitter to lead the Alexandria Beetles to an 8-0 shutout of the Duluth Huskies in a Northwoods League game Tuesday before 831 fans at Knute Nelson Park in Alexandria, Minn.
Brown (2-2), a right-handed pitcher from the University of Iowa, didn't allow a walk and had six strikeouts as the Huskies' hitting woes continued. Offensively, catcher Tim Roberson was 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Alexandria (18-14).
Outfielder Nathan Melendres had two hits to lead Duluth (13-18), which lost for the seventh time in the past 10 games.
Duluth opens a two-game set at Rochester at 7:05 p.m. today.
