St. Cloud State used a 22-9 run during the second quarter to pull away from Minnesota Duluth in a 60-49 victory Friday night at Romano Gym, handing the Bulldogs their first defeat of the season.
Brehna Evans led the Huskies (10-3 overall, 7-2 NSIC) with 17 points, while Nikki Kilboten and Katrina Theis each added a dozen points.
Brooke Olson paced the Bulldogs (9-1, 9-1) with 22 points on 8-for-15 shooting, but UMD only shot 40% (18-for-45) from the field and just 2-for-12 from 3-point range.
St. Cloud State owned a 40-22 in rebounds against the Bulldogs, who were listed as a team under consideration in this week’s regional rankings.
