Wisconsin-Superior blew open a close game with four third-period goals in a 5-1 win over the Chatham Cougars Friday at Frozen Pond Arena in Valencia, Pa.

The game was tied 1-1 after one period thanks to goals by Superior’s Liam Blais, off a Chatham defenseman, and Chatham’s Noah Midalsy, on a rebound.

After a scoreless second period, Jon Pace’s first collegiate goal proved to be the game-winner on a power play 46 seconds into the third period.

Troy York scored back-to-back and Coltyn Bates sealed the victory with an empty-netter with 1:15 remaining.

Myles Hektor finished with 21 saves for UWS (4-1), while Richardo Gonzales stopped 46 shots for Chatham (1-8).
