College men's basketball: Mary edges UMD in triple overtime
Jaylan White made a layup with less than 2 seconds remaining to lift the University of Mary to a 100-98 triple-overtime victory over Minnesota Duluth in an NSIC game Friday night before 623 at Romano Gym.
White finished with 25 points to lead Mary (7-8 overall, 4-5 NSIC), while Connor Hellebust added 21 points as five Marauders reached double figures in scoring.
Junior forward Brandon Myer of Superior had 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead UMD (7-6, 4-5), while Sean Burns added 26 points and 15 rebounds and Logan Rohrscheib chipped in 20.
Myer, who was just one point shy of the career-high 32 points he scored against Northern Michigan last year, became the 38th member of the Bulldogs' 1,000-point club.
After Myer scored high off the glass with 46 seconds remaining, Mary missed a pair of shots, but UMD guard Trevor Entwisle missed a crosscourt pass to Rohrscheib with 16 seconds remaining, setting up White's heroics as the Bulldogs' last-gasp attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.
