St. Scholastica and Wisconsin-Superior will take part in the inaugural four-team Superior Shootout Holiday Classic this weekend at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium in Superior.

St. Scholastica (1-7) kicks off the tournament at 1 p.m. today against unbeaten Wisconsin-Stout (9-0). The Saints are coming off a 61-41 UMAC home loss to Minnesota-Morris after shooting a season-low 27 percent. Sophomore Kaylee Kennedy of Littlefork is the lone Saint averaging in double figures at 13.4 points per game.

Stout is coming off a 66-55 nonconference home victory over Ripon (Wis.) College on Dec. 11 and is led by senior guard Bailey Diersen (17 ppg).

Host UWS (9-1) follows at 3 p.m. today against Concordia-Moorhead. The Yellowjackets have won seven straight and are led by senior forward Hannah Norlin (18.2 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 2.0 bpg), junior forward Eva Reinertsen of Duluth (13.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.0 apg) and junior guard Emily Carpenter (8.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 5.7 apg). Concordia (3-6) has dropped four straight and is led by junior forward Mira Ellefson (14.1 ppg).

The Superior Shootout concludes Sunday with St. Scholastica playing Concordia at 1 p.m., followed by UWS against Stout at 3.
